Duke's Leith is an independent neighbourhood sports bar at 31 Duke Street in Edinburgh. Its relaxed atmosphere, live sport and events make it a social place for drinks and a meal, while the kitchen gives fried chicken a much more prominent role than a typical pub snack menu.
Jumbo chicken wings are brined for 24 hours and served with a broad choice of sauces and dry rubs. Flavours range from barbecue, Buffalo and lemon ranch to hot maple, Louisiana and peanut soy, allowing a table to mix mild, rich and spicy choices.
Buttermilk-brined chicken also appears in burgers and larger plates, including a house burger with cheese, chipotle mayonnaise and hash brown. Cauliflower bites provide a vegan alternative to wings, and loaded fries and other sides help turn a selection into a shared meal.
Fourteen beer taps, cocktails and soft drinks support the bar side of the experience, with regular entertainment adding to the energy. The chicken is identified as halal, and the menu marks several dietary categories; guests with allergies should still speak with staff about sauces, rubs and shared preparation.
