Merola's is a fully licensed Italian restaurant and pizzeria at 181 Clare Road in Grangetown, Cardiff. Nick and Spiro established the restaurant in 1986, and its traditional, family-friendly style has made it a long-standing part of the local community.
The cooking takes inspiration from Sorrento, Positano and the Amalfi Coast. Homemade pizzas can be built with a broad choice of toppings, while pasta dishes include familiar preparations such as bolognese, carbonara, arrabbiata and the creamy tomato-based tagliatelle Merola’s.
The menu also covers calzone, steaks, chicken and fish. King prawns, mussels, sea bass and salmon sit alongside chicken cooked with garlic and lemon, cream sauces or tomato and chilli, giving groups plenty of choice beyond pizza and pasta.
Desserts such as homemade tiramisu, cheesecake and profiteroles complete an unhurried Italian meal, and takeaway is available as well as table service. Guests needing gluten-free food or managing other allergies should speak with staff about the current options and possible cross-contact.
