SCJ Nunu Sushi is a traditional Japanese sushi restaurant on Bloomsbury Street, close to the British Museum. Fresh ingredients are prepared in an open kitchen with attention to established Japanese techniques, giving the compact restaurant a clear view of the craft behind each plate. The relaxed dining room welcomes quick lunches, leisurely dinners and small group gatherings throughout the week.
Nigiri and sashimi range across tuna, salmon, yellowtail, sea bass, sea bream, mackerel, scallop, prawn, eel and other changing seafood. Assorted platters let the chef bring several cuts together, while the Nunu Special combines nigiri, salmon roll and salmon sashimi with miso soup. Chirashi places sliced sashimi over sushi rice, providing a substantial alternative to ordering individual pieces.
Thin maki use fillings such as tuna, salmon, cucumber, avocado and yellowtail, alongside larger rolls with combinations including crab, prawn tempura or spicy tuna. Set meals expand the choice beyond sushi with udon, grilled eel, salmon teriyaki and yakitori served with rice, salad, soup or pickles. These formats make the menu practical for both a focused sushi order and a complete hot meal.
Edamame, wakame salad, octopus with cucumber and vinegar dressing, agedashi tofu and miso soup work well as opening dishes. Takoyaki, karaage chicken, soft shell crab tempura, gyoza and grilled eel add warmer and richer flavours for sharing. Green tea or chestnut ice cream offers a light sweet finish, while sake and cold drinks accompany the clean flavours of the fish and rice.
