The Lemon Tree is a traditional pub at 4 Bedfordbury in Covent Garden, tucked just away from the busiest West End streets. Its friendly atmosphere combines a proper drinks led pub with a substantial Thai kitchen, making it as relevant for dinner as for an afternoon pint.
Starters include chicken satay, fish cakes, steamed dumplings and prawn toast, with a mixed platter offering an easy introduction for groups. Tom yum and coconut based tom kha soups bring aromatic lemongrass and chilli before the larger dishes arrive.
Green, red and massaman curries can be paired with vegetables, tofu, chicken, beef, pork, duck or prawns. Pad Thai, drunken noodles, fried rice and basil stir fries broaden the choice, while vegetable and tofu versions make much of the menu accessible to vegetarian and vegan diners.
Real ales, premium spirits, cocktails and an international wine list complete the pub side of the experience. Burgers and fish and chips provide familiar alternatives, and the upstairs dining area can host small private occasions with either a buffet or sit down meal.
