Dùthchas is an intimate tasting menu restaurant at 187 Great Junction Street in Leith. Its name is a Scottish Gaelic word describing the relationship between people, animals, land and sea, a theme that shapes a dining experience centred on the ingredients and producers of Scotland.
The main six course tasting menu follows the seasons and highlights produce from around the Scottish Isles. The kitchen works closely with local farmers, suppliers and producers, allowing the sequence of dishes to change as ingredients from the land and sea reach their best point in the year.
A shorter three course “wee” taster gives diners a more compact introduction to the same approach. The front of house team presents each dish with an explanation of its ingredients and provenance, connecting the finished food to the source of the produce and the thinking behind the menu.
Wine pairings are available for both menu lengths, drawing on different regions and grape varieties to complement the food. Reservations are important for the small scale experience, and diners should tell the restaurant about allergies or dietary restrictions before arriving so the kitchen can confirm what it can accommodate.
