Jakobs is a family run cafe, deli and restaurant at 20 Gloucester Road in South Kensington. Founded in 1996, it has developed a welcoming, informal identity around fresh home cooking, with Armenian and Persian traditions informing an unusually broad international selection.
The daily deli counter is filled with colourful salads, dips, quiches, roasted vegetables and substantial dishes such as lasagne, roasted poultry and stuffed vegetables. Much of the selection changes with the ingredients available, encouraging regulars to build a different plate on each visit.
Homemade wraps can be filled with falafel, grilled chicken, aubergine or meatballs, while grilled fish and other dishes can be prepared to order. Vegetarian mains and organic ingredients are prominent, and the kitchen balances healthy options with comforting food and generous flavours.
