Mari Vanna Knightsbridge presents Russian home cooking in a richly decorated dining room at 116 Knightsbridge. Matryoshka dolls, china, books and collected trinkets create the atmosphere of an old family home, echoing the restaurant’s fictional matriarch and its emphasis on generous hospitality.
Cold starters include Olivier salad, cured fish, pickled vegetables and herring layered with beetroot, carrot, egg and potato. Classic borsch arrives with sour cream and garlic bread, while chicken, fish and mushroom soups offer further introductions to Russian and eastern European flavours.
Siberian dumplings, beef stroganoff and baked chicken sit alongside Georgian cheese breads and Ukrainian dumplings filled with potato and mushrooms. Blinis, vegetable salads, fish dishes and changing seasonal choices allow diners to build either a substantial feast or a lighter collection of plates.
Syrniki, honey cake, Napoleon pastry and cherry filled dumplings bring a broad selection of traditional sweets. Sea buckthorn tea, herbal infusions, kvas, vodka and other drinks extend the regional character, while breakfast, takeaway and delivery provide alternatives to a full evening meal.
