Pera Edinburgh is a Turkish mangal and meze restaurant at 57 Elm Row. The cosy dining room serves freshly made food in a relaxed setting and operates as a bring your own alcohol venue with corkage. Dine in, takeaway and delivery offer several ways to enjoy the kitchen’s food.
Hot and cold meze encourage the table to begin by sharing. Hummus, courgette fritters, filo pastries with feta, spinach with garlic yoghurt and pan fried prawns show the range of textures and ingredients. Fresh bubble bread and cacık make natural accompaniments to these smaller dishes.
Charcoal cooking is the main attraction, with chicken and lamb şiş, lamb köfte, ribs and seasonal vegetable kebabs grilled over a traditional mangal. Clay pot dishes bring a slower cooked alternative, and sea bass broadens the main courses beyond meat. Bulgur, salad and yoghurt sauce complete many of the grills.
Mixed banquets gather meze, several grilled meats and baklava into a meal for two or more, while a vegetarian banquet provides its own full selection. Turkish coffee, tea and ayran accompany the food. Guests with allergies or particular dietary requirements should discuss the current recipes and preparation with the restaurant before ordering.
