Ecco Vino is a cosy restaurant and wine bar at 19 Cockburn Street in Edinburgh’s Old Town. Established in 2001, it occupies a characterful setting close to the Royal Mile and offers an intimate place for lunch, dinner or drinks with food.
Fresh Scottish seafood is a central part of the menu, reflecting the restaurant’s access to produce from the country’s coast. Mediterranean influences appear across the cooking, giving diners a choice that extends from seafood to carefully assembled small plates.
Handmade pasta adds a comforting option for a fuller meal, while sharing several smaller dishes suits the relaxed wine bar format. The selection changes with ingredients and availability, allowing seasonal produce to guide what arrives at the table.
An extensive wine list is integral to the experience, with bottles and glasses chosen to complement the food. The compact room and informal service work equally well for a casual stop during a day in the city or an unhurried evening meal.
