Fairuz is a long established Lebanese restaurant at 3 Blandford Street in Marylebone. Named in tribute to the celebrated Lebanese singer, it offers a relaxed setting for traditional mezze, charcoal grilled meat and generously composed specialities that capture the bright herbs, warm spices and hospitality of Lebanese dining.
Cold mezze include hummus, smoky aubergine mutabbal, tabbouleh, fattoush and stuffed vine leaves, while muhammara combines roasted pepper, chilli and nuts. Hot starters such as falafel, lamb sambousek, spicy sausages and halloumi add crisp and savoury contrasts, making the opening dishes particularly well suited to sharing.
The charcoal grill features marinated chicken shish, lamb cubes, kafta and mixed grills served with onions, parsley, tomato and tahini sauce. Whole sea bream, grilled prawns and boneless baby chicken broaden the selection, while makloobeh layers aubergine, rice and lamb for one of the restaurant’s most comforting house specialities.
Vegetarian dishes include lentil mujadara, baked aubergine, falafel platters and combinations of hummus, salad and vine leaves. Fresh mint lemonade and Lebanese wine complement the food, and milk pudding scented with rosewater or baklawa filled with walnuts and pistachio provides a fragrant sweet conclusion.
