Flour to the People! is a small family run pizzeria on Battersea Park Road, where the premises have been in the same family since the 1960s. The site began as Chris’s Fish Bar, later became a cafe and returned to family ownership in 2015 before evolving into its current pizza focused form.
Sourdough is at the heart of the kitchen, with each batch of pizza dough proved for forty eight hours to develop flavour and a texture between crisp and chewy. Bases are shaped by hand, then baked at very high heat for around ninety to one hundred and twenty seconds.
The concise menu allows the team to concentrate on pizza quality rather than a large collection of unrelated dishes. Many toppings come from different regions of Italy, Kalamata olives add a Greek exception, and chilli oil is made regularly in house to bring extra warmth to any chosen combination.
The intimate space and independent character give the Battersea restaurant a strong neighbourhood identity.
