Franco Manca Russell Square is a relaxed pizzeria beside Russell Square Underground station, within walking distance of the British Museum and the gardens of Russell Square. Franco Manca began in Brixton Market in 2008 and built its identity around slow rising Neapolitan sourdough pizza. The brand works with seasonal ingredients and suppliers in Britain and Italy, keeping the focus on straightforward combinations and the character of the dough.
The dough is made fresh and fermented for at least twenty four hours using a sourdough starter whose history reaches back to the late eighteenth century. Organic Italian tomatoes, mozzarella and other cheeses are combined with vegetables and cured meats across the pizza selection, with vegetarian and vegan choices also available.
The Russell Square pizzeria has a cosy, rustic dining room as well as outdoor seating. Guests can eat inside, order food to collect or use delivery services, making the restaurant suitable for both an unhurried meal and a convenient pizza at home.
