LIMA Fitzrovia has served contemporary Peruvian food on Rathbone Place since the Gonzalez brothers founded the restaurant in 2012. The kitchen now operates under Peruvian born head chef Diego Recarte, whose menu combines knowledge of his heritage with experience gained in internationally recognised restaurants. British seasonal ingredients are used as the foundation for dishes shaped by Latin American flavours and techniques.
Ceviche remains one of the clearest expressions of the restaurant’s Peruvian identity. The classic version pairs stone bass with tiger’s milk and sweet potato, balancing citrus, chilli and the natural texture of the fish. Other raw and lightly prepared dishes may include sashimi, bluefin tuna, oysters or beef carpaccio, demonstrating how the kitchen moves between Peruvian tradition and a wider contemporary approach.
The menu extends from small plates into more substantial meat, fish and vegetable dishes. Cornish octopus can be served with chipotle and confit potatoes, while lamb, Iberico pork and wood fired beef bring richer flavours from the grill. Seasonal vegetables, heirloom tomatoes and plant based choices give diners scope to create a meal that is not centred entirely on meat or seafood.
An open kitchen brings guests close to the preparation, while pisco sours and other cocktails reinforce the restaurant’s connection with Peru. Sharing plates allow a table to explore ceviche, snacks and grilled dishes together, although larger mains also support a more conventional meal. The combination of vivid ingredients, precise presentation and an informal Fitzrovia setting keeps the restaurant approachable while preserving a distinctive culinary identity.
