Lorne Restaurant is an independent neighbourhood dining room on Wilton Road, a short walk from Victoria station. Owner Katie Exton opened the restaurant in 2017 after working as a sommelier at Chez Bruce, The Square and The River Café. Her aim is to combine delicious food with genuine hospitality in a setting that encourages guests to return regularly rather than reserve it only for formal occasions. The room is intimate and relaxed, providing a calm contrast to the busy transport links, offices and theatres around Victoria.

Head chef Graham Brown has been part of Lorne since it opened and took charge of the kitchen in 2021. His experience includes The Square in London, Eleven Madison Park in New York and La Trompette in Chiswick. That background supports food that is technically assured but avoids unnecessary display. Seasonal British and European ingredients guide the menu, with each element chosen for flavour and treated in a way that feels direct, balanced and suited to the character of the restaurant.

The selection changes regularly according to the quality of available produce. Fish, meat and vegetables may be combined with handmade pasta, smooth purées, fresh herbs, carefully developed sauces and contrasting pickles or dressings. Set and main menus give diners a choice between a concise meal and a broader progression, while thoughtful desserts provide a satisfying finish without becoming overly elaborate. Dietary needs can be discussed with the team, and the small scale of the kitchen helps the restaurant maintain close attention to every plate sent into the dining room.

Wine is central to Lorne rather than an addition to the food. The list is shaped by Katie Exton’s experience and offers interesting bottles, carafes and glasses across a wide range of prices. Staff can suggest a simple pairing for one course or guide guests through several regions over a longer dinner. Special wine evenings deepen this focus by bringing producers and carefully matched menus together. Lorne’s appeal comes from this combination of confident seasonal cooking, personal wine knowledge and warm service within a restaurant that still feels closely connected to its local community.
