Shad Indian Restaurant is an established Indian dining room on Tooley Street, between London Bridge and Tower Bridge. Founded in 2010, the restaurant draws on regional cooking from across India while offering both table service and takeaway. Its warm interior and broad menu suit a complete evening meal, a business lunch or a convenient local order.
Starters include samosas, onion bhaji, seekh kebab and prawns cooked in a spiced sauce and served on crisp puri bread. Chicken, lamb and king prawns are marinated with herbs and spices before cooking in the tandoor, giving the meat and seafood a smoky roasted finish. Mixed starter and grill selections allow a table to compare several preparations together.
Chicken tikka masala provides a familiar creamy curry, while house dishes bring more distinctive combinations. Methi saag gosht pairs lamb with fenugreek and spinach, lamb Sikandari offers a rich spiced gravy, and the chef’s Indian shepherd’s pie adapts a British comfort dish with warmer seasoning. Jalfrezi, bhuna and other established curry styles provide a wide range of heat and sauce textures.
Biryani combines aromatic rice with chicken, lamb, king prawns or vegetables for a substantial main course. Lentils, paneer, chickpeas, potatoes and seasonal vegetables support meat free meals, accompanied by pilau rice, naan, chapati, paratha, poppadoms and chutneys. Mango or pistachio kulfi and fruit sorbets provide a cooling finish after the spices.
