Story Cellar is a neighbourhood restaurant and wine bar at 17 Neal’s Yard in Seven Dials. Created by chef Tom Sellers, it centres on rotisserie cooking, a daily grill and an open, informal approach to sharing food. The compact menu changes with the produce available, giving regular diners new fish, meat and vegetable dishes while preserving the restaurant’s signature chicken.

Smaller plates can include house bread with cultured butter, oysters, cured meats, burrata, tuna tartare and seasonal vegetables. Onion agnolotti with wild mushrooms and burnt lemon shows the kitchen’s more delicate side, while mussels cooked in Story cider or a hand dived scallop bring British shellfish into focus. The selection is designed so a table can build a meal gradually.

Rotisserie chicken is served with house salad and French fries, making it a natural centrepiece for sharing. The grill can also feature dry aged pork, steak frites, a large beef cut for two or the fish of the day. Sauces such as house jus, peppercorn sauce and cowboy butter add richness, while potatoes, tomato salad and grilled vegetables keep the accompaniments direct.

Desserts may include brown sugar brûlée, bread and butter pudding with tonka bean and orange custard or a changing soft serve based on seasonal fruit. Wine is a defining part of the experience: a Coravin system allows rare bottles to be poured by the glass as well as ordered whole. This combination of generous rotisserie food and an unusually deep cellar makes the restaurant equally suited to dinner and a spontaneous glass with small plates.
