Slurp Thai Spitalfields is a casual Thai restaurant at 60–62 Commercial Street, close to Spitalfields Market. Co-founder Saiphin Moore’s family recipes provide the starting point, with the restaurant aiming to recreate dishes that are part of everyday eating in Thailand.
Noodle soup is the speciality, from clear, fragrant broths to deeper five spice bowls and the colourful sweet and sour character of yen ta fo. Stir fried noodles and rice dishes broaden the selection, giving diners several ways to explore the kitchen beyond one signature broth.
Thai street food completes the menu, with dishes such as som tum, dumplings, spring rolls, spicy chicken wings and Hat Yai style fried chicken. The balance of chilli, sourness, sweetness, herbs and savoury depth varies across the dishes, so staff can help newcomers understand the different styles.
The lively dining room has a bar and can also accommodate private events, while takeaway and delivery provide alternatives to eating in. Fish sauce, shellfish, peanuts and other allergens feature in parts of the menu, and cross contamination cannot be ruled out, so guests should confirm dietary needs with the team before ordering.
