The Jharna is an Indian restaurant at 133 Lisburn Road in Belfast. Established in 1992, it combines genuine regional flavours with seasonal local ingredients and serves them in a warm dining room for lunch, dinner and Sunday meals.
The tandoor is central to the kitchen’s identity. Chicken tikka is marinated with garam masala, lemon, ginger, garlic and yoghurt before cooking over high heat, while seekh kebab, tandoori prawns and mixed platters explore different meats and spice combinations from the same charcoal oven.
Curry choices range from gentle korma and tomato-rich bhuna to hotter jalfrezi, madras and chilli masala. Chettinad chicken, spiced coconut prawns and biryani add further regional character, while paneer, lentils, aubergine, potato and cauliflower provide substantial vegetarian options.
Rice, naan and chutneys help diners adjust texture and heat across the meal, with special set menus offering a structured way to sample the kitchen. Nuts, dairy, gluten and other allergens are handled on site, so anyone with an allergy should discuss the current menu with staff before ordering.
