1886 Restaurant & Terrace is the main restaurant at Braid Hills Hotel, 134 Braid Road in Edinburgh. Its bright conservatory style dining room looks across Braidburn Valley Park towards the city and the Firth of Forth, giving the venue a scenic setting for lunch or dinner.
Seasonality and Scottish provenance guide the menu, with ingredients sourced from established local suppliers where possible. Starters can include a stack of haggis and black pudding with whisky sauce, Shetland mussels, king prawn bruschetta and vegetable led options such as mushroom parfait.
The main selection balances familiar comfort food with more composed plates. Recent examples include sea trout with mussel and sweetcorn chowder, chicken with black pudding and whisky sauce, pork belly porchetta, fish and chips, steak pie and a sweet potato and chickpea loaf.
