Ceru Queensway is a family owned Eastern Mediterranean restaurant at 11 to 13 Queensway, close to Hyde Park and Bayswater. Its light, colourful interior draws on the textiles and atmosphere of the Levant, creating a relaxed setting for lunch, dinner or weekend brunch. Dishes arrive progressively for the table, encouraging guests to share and explore several flavours during one meal.
The menu begins with dips such as houmous, roasted courgette with yoghurt and tahini, and a tangy red pepper blend with walnuts and pomegranate molasses. Warm pita or seasonal vegetables accompany them. Fresh herbs, sumac, zaatar, lemon, olive oil and pomegranate appear throughout the cooking, bringing aromatic and lively character without relying on heavy sauces.
Meat and seafood plates can include slow roasted lamb shoulder with shawarma spices, grilled shish taouk, king prawns in spiced tomato sauce and fish with bright herb or citrus dressings. Salads, sticky roasted aubergines, cauliflower with walnuts, halloumi and courgette fritters give vegetarian and vegan diners substantial choice. Almost the entire menu can be enjoyed without gluten when pita is set aside.
Regional red, white and rose wines accompany specially brewed craft beer, cocktails and fresh homemade lemonade. Brunch adds dishes such as shakshuka with halloumi and baked eggs with merguez. Ceru combines spice, smoke, citrus and char in a contemporary interpretation of Levantine food, with the communal spirit of its source cultures kept at the centre of the experience.
