Med Salleh Viet is a halal Vietnamese restaurant at 108 Chepstow Road near Westbourne Grove. The concept grew from cofounder Syphong Lam’s family experience of Vietnamese cooking and brings her home style favourites into a casual London setting. It focuses on the freshness, fragrance and contrast associated with Vietnamese street food.
Pho is a defining dish, built on broth simmered gently with beef marrow bones and chicken for at least eighteen hours. Flat rice noodles, meat or vegetables are joined by bean sprouts, herbs, lime and chilli so each diner can shape the bowl to taste. Rare beef, oxtail, chicken, king prawn and vegetable versions provide several routes through the same comforting format.
Handcrafted summer rolls and crisp spring rolls offer a lighter beginning, while mango salad supplies sweet, sharp and refreshing flavours. Grilled lamb, squid and king prawns bring the smoky character of street barbecue. Bun cha pairs noodles and herbs with grilled chicken, beef, prawns or seasonal mushrooms, balancing warm savoury ingredients with fresh accompaniments.
Rice dishes topped with lemongrass chicken, black pepper beef or mushrooms make a substantial alternative to soup and noodles. Vietnamese coffee, tea and cold drinks round out a quick lunch or relaxed dinner. The compact menu includes useful vegan choices and keeps its identity clear: accessible halal food grounded in family recipes and the everyday pleasures of Vietnamese street dining.
