Number 16 is a small, cosy restaurant on Byres Road in Glasgow’s West End. Established in 1999 and arranged over two levels, it has the character of a well loved neighbourhood dining room. A friendly, experienced team keeps the service relaxed while treating both lunch and dinner as individual occasions.

Modern Scottish cooking provides the foundation, with fresh and unusual ideas introduced through an ever changing seasonal menu. Meat, fish and vegetables are combined with carefully judged sauces, grains and herbs, and occasional international influences add contrast. The aim is balanced flavour rather than novelty detached from the produce.

An à la carte selection allows diners to shape a full meal, while set lunch offers a concise way to experience the kitchen. The compact room makes booking sensible at busy times and creates an intimate atmosphere suited to couples and small groups. Dietary needs should be raised in advance so the current dishes can be assessed accurately.

Wine is chosen to follow the menu’s changing ingredients, with options by the glass as well as bottles for a longer meal. Desserts continue the seasonal approach and give the same attention to texture and balance as the savoury courses. Number 16 combines creative cooking, value and personal service without losing the ease of a local restaurant.
