Sarastro Restaurant is a theatrical Mediterranean restaurant at 126 Drury Lane in Covent Garden. Named after a character in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, it has combined colourful opera inspired decor, lively hospitality and food with a Turkish influence since opening in 1996.
Meals can begin with a generous mezze of hummus, cacik, muhammara, cheese börek, calamari and warm pitta bread. These dishes bring together creamy, crisp, smoky and gently spiced flavours, creating a sociable opening that is particularly well suited to sharing across the table.
Slow cooked lamb shank, beef short rib, chargrilled chicken skewers and pan fried sea bass provide substantial main courses. Stuffed aubergine and vegetables, chickpea casserole and seasonal sides add thoughtful vegetarian choices, while baklava, baked rice pudding and other desserts complete the menu.
Live opera, swing, soul, Motown and Latin performances appear across the restaurant’s entertainment programme.
