The Sterling is a bar and restaurant at 30 St Mary Axe, positioned at the foot of the Gherkin in the City of London. Its large indoor space and expansive terrace move easily from business lunches to after work drinks and organised celebrations.
The kitchen serves brunch and lunch before shifting towards evening plates and sharing food. Current examples such as a Cornish lobster roll, a roasted squash and grain bowl, and beer battered haddock with chips show a menu that balances lighter choices with familiar comfort food.
Sharing plates suit groups using the venue as a social meeting point, while desserts allow a longer meal before the evening atmosphere develops. Cocktails, wine and beer accompany the food, with the terrace especially useful for alfresco dining in warmer weather.
