Meraz Restaurant Brick Lane is a longstanding Bengali and Indian restaurant on Hanbury Street. Established in 1974 to serve Bangladeshi, Punjabi and Indian communities living and working nearby, it has grown into an enduring part of the food culture surrounding Brick Lane.
Traditional handi cooking remains central to the restaurant’s identity, building rich flavours through patient preparation and respect for established recipes. Curries, bhuna dishes and daily specials provide comforting choices, with spice levels and ingredients covering a broad range of regional tastes.
Biryani is offered with chicken, lamb, prawns or vegetables, while the tandoor produces lamb chops, chicken tikka, kebabs and grilled seafood. Daal, chickpeas, spinach, potatoes and other vegetable dishes make it easy to build a varied table for diners with different preferences.
