Frog By Adam Handling is a modern British restaurant in Covent Garden built around the idea of sustainable luxury. Chef Adam Handling uses the restaurant to celebrate the diversity of produce found across the United Kingdom, shaping a tasting experience that connects ingredients with memories, places and personal stories. The approach is ambitious but intended to feel welcoming, allowing guests to enjoy refined cooking without an atmosphere of unnecessary stiffness. Since opening in 2017, Frog has developed into the flagship expression of Handling’s food, hospitality and environmental philosophy.
The tasting menu showcases ingredients sourced from farmers, fishermen and growers across the country, with the team also foraging for seasonal produce. British ingredients form the overwhelming majority of the menu, while selected elements from elsewhere appear when they add something that cannot yet be produced locally. Courses change regularly in response to availability, allowing seafood, meat, vegetables, herbs and fruit to be presented at their best. This close relationship with suppliers gives the cooking a strong sense of season and supports the restaurant’s wider celebration of Britain’s modern food culture.
Reducing waste is central to the kitchen rather than a separate gesture. The team aims to use every suitable part of an ingredient, finding new roles for trimmings and byproducts that might otherwise be discarded. Some elements move from the food menu into the drinks programme, creating cocktails that extend the flavour and value of the original produce. This approach encourages creativity across the restaurant and links the work of chefs and bartenders. Sustainability therefore becomes part of the guest experience through taste, technique and storytelling instead of appearing only as a stated principle.
The dining room faces the kitchen, allowing guests to watch the team work and interact directly with chefs as courses arrive. This theatrical arrangement turns the tasting menu into a shared journey rather than a distant formal service. The Library offers private dining for a small group, with scope for a tailored experience shaped around preferred ingredients. Frog By Adam Handling brings together British sourcing, technical skill, personal hospitality and a serious commitment to using ingredients responsibly, creating a distinctive celebration of contemporary dining in London’s West End.
Address: 34–35 Southampton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2E 7HG, United Kingdom
