Gourmet Burger Kitchen is the GBK restaurant at 119A Waterloo Road, close to Waterloo station. The group has specialised in gourmet burgers since 2001, pairing an informal dining room with a menu built around British beef, fried or grilled chicken and plant based alternatives. Burgers can be adapted with different sides and non gluten containing buns.
The beef patties use British grass fed cuts of chuck, brisket and aged steak. Classic Beef and Classic Cheese keep the toppings familiar, while the Taxi Driver adds American cheese, an onion ring, chipotle mayonnaise and gherkins. The Texan layers bacon, cheese, crisp onions and barbecue sauce, and Rocket Man brings jalapeños, baconnaise and habanero jam.
Smashed burgers use two thinner patties with either American cheese or blue cheese sauce. Chicken burgers can be grilled or fried in a crisp coating, and chicken tenders provide a simple sharing choice. Vegetable and plant based burgers ensure the menu is not limited to meat, with salads and house slaw available alongside.
Skinny or chunky fries, handmade onion rings and truffle macaroni cheese round out a generous meal. House sauces include chipotle mayonnaise, blue cheese, garlic, baconnaise, truffle mayonnaise and habanero jam. Thick shakes in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, Oreo and Lotus Biscoff flavours sit beside beer, cider, wine and soft drinks.
