Kulu Kulu Sushi is a compact Japanese restaurant on Brewer Street that has operated in Soho since 1995. Chefs prepare dishes beside the counter and place them on the conveyor belt, creating a lively and direct experience for a quick lunch or an informal evening meal.
Nigiri, maki and sashimi form the heart of the selection, with salmon, tuna, prawn, mackerel, eel, scallop and other seafood appearing in different combinations. Salmon and avocado rolls, California rolls and mixed platters make it easy to compare several styles without committing to one large dish.
Hand rolls include fillings such as soft shell crab, tempura prawn, salmon skin and tuna. Udon or soba in broth, tempura, miso aubergine, edamame, spinach and miso soup add hot and vegetarian choices for diners who want more than raw fish and rice.
Guests can lift plates directly from the belt or order from the broader menu when a favourite is not passing the counter. The plate by plate format gives each diner control over pace, portion and variety, while takeaway and delivery provide alternatives to eating in the narrow Soho restaurant.
