Diwana Bhel Poori House is a long established vegetarian Indian restaurant at 121–123 Drummond Street, close to Euston station. Open since the early 1970s, its simple dining room has become known for generous portions, approachable prices and food drawn from the street stalls and home kitchens of India.
Bhel poori gives the restaurant its name, combining crisp, tangy, sweet and spicy elements in a lively street food dish. Pani poori, samosas, vegetable bhajiyas and other snacks continue that theme, making it easy to begin with several plates shared across the table.
South Indian dosas arrive in plain, masala, onion and other variations with coconut chutney and sambhar. Gujarati thalis, curries, lentils, rice, chapatis and paratha provide more substantial choices, while the entirely vegetarian selection includes many dishes that can also suit vegan diners.
Kulfi, shrikhand and syrup soaked sweets offer a traditional finish after the spices. A bring your own bottle policy adds to the informal character, and the broad range of snacks, dosas and complete meals makes Diwana useful for anything from a quick lunch to an unhurried dinner with friends.
