Kricket Soho is a modern Indian restaurant at 12 Denman Street, close to Piccadilly Circus. The founders began Kricket in a twenty foot shipping container in Brixton in 2015 before opening this first permanent restaurant. Two floors, a long marble counter and views into the open kitchen create a lively Soho setting, while its Michelin Bib Gourmand reflects an emphasis on flavour and value.
The menu explores regional Indian food through British produce and a sharing format. Snacks might include tomato rasam pani puri, fried idli or Goan sausage paan, followed by bhel puri, samphire pakoras and Keralan fried chicken. Recheado butter prawns, skirt steak pepper fry and seasonal vegetable plates bring together chilli, citrus, herbs, yoghurt and chutneys in carefully balanced combinations.
Larger plates continue the regional approach. Chicken mappas combines coconut and curry leaf, grilled squash comes with makhani sauce and paneer, and butter bean kuzhambu offers a substantial plant based choice. Baked hake, lamb chops and whole sea bream draw on the tandoor and grill, while Tamil beef keema pulao and duck leg kothu parotta turn rice and flatbread dishes into rich centrepieces for the table.
A lunchtime thali offers a compact way to experience the kitchen through curry, rice and accompaniments, with chicken or grilled squash among the choices. Desserts continue to use Indian ingredients and ideas, while seasonal cocktails, wine, local beer and alcohol free drinks are designed to sit alongside the spice. The result is an energetic restaurant that presents Indian culinary memories in a distinctly contemporary London style.
