Sushi Kyu Menu

Sushi Kyu is an intimate Japanese restaurant at 30 Brewer Street in Soho. With only ten seats arranged around an L shaped counter, the room keeps diners close to the chefs and turns the precise cutting, seasoning and assembly of each piece into part of the experience.

Omakase is the restaurant’s defining format, allowing the chefs to shape a progression around the best fish available. A typical sequence begins with a sashimi appetiser before moving through individually prepared nigiri, so changes in richness, texture and temperature can be appreciated one piece at a time.

Seasoned rice made with red akazu vinegar supports carefully sourced fish, which may include several cuts of tuna, turbot, mullet, squid or sea urchin according to the day. Garnishes such as yuzu, shiso, spring onion and grated radish are applied with restraint to complement rather than overwhelm the seafood.

An à la carte selection of nigiri, sashimi, maki and chirashi rice bowls provides flexibility beyond the set menu. Sake and wine are chosen to accompany the food, while lunch and pre-theatre options make the focused counter experience accessible at different points in a Soho visit.
