BOKAN 38 Bar is an elevated drinking and dining venue on the thirty eighth floor of the Novotel London Canary Wharf. It forms one distinct part of Bōkan’s three level destination, sitting above the restaurant on level thirty seven and below the open roof terrace on level thirty nine. Floor to ceiling views stretch across Canary Wharf, the City, Greenwich and the Thames, giving the bar a powerful sense of place. The outlook changes from bright daytime panoramas to a dramatic field of lights after sunset.

Cocktails are the main expression of the bar’s identity, with recipes inspired by London’s Docklands and the many goods, people and cultures that have passed through the area. Locally distilled spirits are placed alongside international bottles, carefully selected wine and craft beer. The team uses fruit, herbs, spice and aromatic ingredients to create drinks with enough structure to remain interesting from the first sip to the last. Classic serves are also available for guests who prefer a familiar choice while enjoying the unusual setting.

A dedicated food menu makes Bar 38 suitable for more than drinks alone. Small plates, snacks and shareable dishes draw on Bōkan’s approach to British ingredients and European cooking, giving guests the option of a light meal or several plates across an evening. The food is designed to work naturally with cocktails, wine and beer rather than compete with them. This flexibility suits an informal visit after work, a relaxed date or a longer gathering where the table can order gradually as the evening develops.

The interior reflects the maritime and industrial history of the Isle of Dogs through timber, metal and details associated with old dockside workshops. Warm lighting and comfortable seating soften these materials, while the windows keep the skyline present throughout the space. Guests can continue upstairs to the roof terrace when conditions allow, but Bar 38 retains its own atmosphere and service. The combination of crafted drinks, thoughtful food and extraordinary height makes it a distinctive Canary Wharf destination rather than simply a bar inside a hotel.
