Sammy’s At The Yellow House Menu

Sammy’s at The Yellow House is an independent European bistro, pizzeria and bar at 126 Lower Road in Surrey Quays. Chefs Samuel and Jaime took over after working together at The Yellow House for many years, preserving its warm neighbourhood spirit while placing their own stamp on the food. A log fire in winter and a terrace facing Southwark Park give the restaurant a comfortable setting throughout the year.

The bistro menu begins with choices such as garlic mushroom bruschetta, beetroot and blue cheese salad, crisp squid with pineapple, coriander and chilli, or a twice baked Gruyère soufflé. Main dishes can include slowly braised feather blade with smooth potato and confit carrot, salmon meunière with capers or roast English lamb with beans and rosemary jus.

A separate pizza and pasta selection makes the restaurant easy to visit for a casual meal. Pappardelle combines Italian sausage, mushrooms, cream and Parmesan, while tagliatelle with mushrooms and spaghetti with vegetables and pesto provide further options. The pizza oven produces Margherita, spinach and ricotta, Italian sausage, chorizo and truffled mushroom pizzas on freshly prepared bases.

Sunday service centres on roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, chicken confit, lamb or a lentil cake with mushroom sauce. Meringue with raspberry, salted caramel tart, crème brûlée and chocolate truffles provide a choice of desserts, with Camembert available for a savoury finish. Cocktails, wine and draught lager accompany the food and reinforce the relaxed local bar atmosphere.
