Wood Street Bar & Restaurant is a lakeside bar and dining venue at 53 Fore Street in the Barbican. Tucked between Barbican and Moorgate, it offers a relaxed weekday setting for lunch, dinner, drinks or a business gathering. The menu combines modern pub food with influences from Mexico, Asia and the Mediterranean, while the terrace makes the setting feel removed from the surrounding City streets.
Small plates are designed for sharing and include honey mustard sausages, chicken wings, barbecue ribs and pork belly bites. Halloumi fries come with chilli honey butter, while calamari is lifted by lime dressing. Padron peppers, falafel with kale pesto, corn ribs and plant based sausage rolls give vegetarian and vegan diners a wide choice at the start of the meal.
Larger dishes range from cask ale battered fish and chips to lamb cutlets with jewelled couscous, pomegranate and feta. The Dirty Burger layers two smashed beef patties with bacon, two cheeses, pickled onion and house sauce. Pan roasted snapper brings beetroot, dill and horseradish together, while a house falafel burger, squash steak and a substantial salad broaden the plant based selection.
Tacos and loaded nachos can be topped with beef shin birria, chicken mole or a plant based alternative, making them particularly suited to a group over drinks. Desserts include bananas Foster, hot chocolate soufflé and fried apple pie with gelato. Draught beer, wine, spirits and cocktails support the bar, and bespoke menus allow the venue to adapt its cooking for private gatherings and work events.
