Lady of the Grapes is an independent French bistro and wine bar at 16 Maiden Lane in Covent Garden. Founded by Carole Bryon, it combines a relaxed neighbourhood atmosphere with a distinctive commitment to bottles made by women winemakers.
The wine list focuses on organic, biodynamic and natural production, spanning different regions, grapes and styles. Staff can guide guests towards a bottle or glass that suits both their taste and the food, making the bar approachable for curious drinkers as well as experienced wine enthusiasts.
Homemade seasonal food is served as sharing plates, using ingredients selected from environmentally conscious artisans and farmers. The menu may include oysters, gougères with Époisses custard, courgette fritters, beef tartare, charcuterie and cheese, followed by more substantial fish or meat dishes.
Desserts such as vanilla cream or homemade sorbet provide a light finish, while the flexible small plate format makes the venue suitable for a glass and a snack or a fuller meal. Its combination of French cooking and thoughtful wine gives it a clear identity amid Covent Garden's busy dining scene.
