Bar 1790 is a contemporary wine bar and restaurant at 19-23 St Swithin’s Lane in the City of London. Named for the year George Sandeman began trading, it connects the address’s port and wine history with a relaxed modern room open from late morning into the evening.
The current menu begins with snacks and sharing plates such as halloumi fries, spiced calamari, ham hock and Manchego croquettes, chicken strips and a cheese and charcuterie board. These smaller dishes work naturally with a glass of wine but can also be combined into an informal shared meal.
